Candy Metaflake

How about this candy paint job. Believe it or not, this is all silver metalflake. Then the colors are produced by applying different colors of candy colors over the silver metalflake. The result…well you see it in the pics. A very rich and deep looking metalflake job.
Before applying the candy the surface must be flat. This is done by spraying multiple coats of clear. Then resanding it to a flat finish.
Spraying metalflake leaves a VERY rough surface, so if you just spray the metalflake, candy, clear, THEN sand it flat, you’ll sand through the high spots. So you’ll be sanding through the candy leaving quite a few silver flakes showing through.
So now you know what these type paint jobs are quite costly
Not only because of the labor involved but all the materials.
