Stripes on a 1998 Mustang

Painted stripes on a 1998 Mustang

Painted black. To save on cost, we ONLY clearcoated the stripes.
Normally we spray the stripes, reclear the complete panel, then wetsand and buff the complete panel thus eliminating most of the edge on the stripe.
Going back to the old custom painting on van days, I learned how to paint stripes and clearcoat and keep the edge to a minimum.
Basically you clearcoat about a 1/16-1/8" beyond the edge of the actual graphics. This gives you a 'stepped' edge. Meaning it's not as harsh of an edge as if we did not do this. Or not as harsh as a decal would be.
The middle white stripe and the 2 1/4" white stripes were also clearcoated, so all we ended up really having an edge on was the very outer edge on both sides which was almost eliminated by doing the 'step' process mentioned above.
